Union Minister of State for Human Resources Development Daggubati Purandareshwari is a woman of conviction and commitment. For good or bad, she has joined the Congress party and she does not want to ditch it, like her brother-in-law N Chandrababu Naidu did 26 years ago. In an interview to a private TV channel on Sunday, Purandareshwari said she had joined the Congress, only because she had felt the real Telugu Desam had disappeared with the demise of his father. She reminded a statement of her brother Balakrishna that: "Anukarinchey vadu natudu, anusarinche vadu vaarasudu" (One who imitates a legend is actor; one who follows him is a heir). "The leaders, who succeeded NTR in the party, had not followed him and instead, given a go by to his policies and programmes. That is why, I felt there was no TD and chose the Congress," she said. Asked whether she would go back to the TD, if Balakrishna takes over the reins, Purandareshwari said a firm no. "I am being treated with a great respect in the Congress. There is no question of deserting it," she asserted. |
