As a prelude to his imminent political role, Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi on Friday hoisted the national tricolour at his new party office here.
The actor, who is scheduled to announce his political entry at a press conference here on Sunday next, unfurled the tricolour at the party office in posh Jubilee Hills.
Clad in a white kurta and pyjama, he came to the party office at 11:00 am and waved to a large number of his fans who had gathered outside the office building.
Looking cheerful, he spent time with a group of mentally-challenged children.
Talking to reporters after hoisting the national flag, Chiranjeevi said he was reminded of his experience as an NCC cadet while in college.
"I was very active in NCC. The flag hoisting and singing the national anthem myself remind me those days. I hope for good days for all of us," he said.
Chiranjeevi had participated in the Republic Day Parade in New Delhi as an NCC cadet in the early 70s.
The mega star of Telugu cinema is scheduled to announce his political foray on Sunday next.
"Chiranjeevi will announce on 17th that he is entering politics," his brother-in-law and noted film producer Allu Aravind said last night.
The announcement would be followed by a massive public meeting on August 26 in Tirupati where the actor is expected to outline the policies and programmes of his party.
