Shahrukh Khan Imitates Our Allu Arjun

The aura and impact that Shahrukh Khan leaves wherever he goes needs no introduction. King Khan as he is fondly called has his unique style of body language and statements that catch the attention of many. However, even the Bollywood Badshah seemed to have taken an inspiration from the stylish star of Tollywood.

Well, we are talking about Allu Arjun. Apparently, Shahrukh was part of the inaugural event of the Indian Premiere League (IPL) and gave a rocking performance on stage. He was shaking his hips to the tunes of popular south Indian mass songs. One among them was the famous ‘Ringa ringa…’ from Allu Arjun’s ‘Arya 2’.

Those who watched the event stated that SRK imitated Allu Arjun in the dance steps and the icing on the cake was Shriya’s hip shaking and gyrating along with the Bollywood superstar. Well, it appears that Bunny has got his own impact even on King Khan looking at all this.

IPL fever continues with Shilpa Shetty

Shilpa Shetty has been going through a really bad time! Well we are talking about her health. The actress who is down with flu has refused to rest at home when her team is set to fight with Shahrukh Khan's Kolkata Knight Riders. The owner of Rajasthan Royals, Shilpa Shetty, can't rest when her team is on the ground. Despite suffering from flu, Shilpa chose to be with her team at Ahmedabad. "I have been bitten by the flu bug but am still high on life! I am coughing my lungs out, sound like Raza Murad, still I'll scream for my team Rajasthan Royals" said Shilpa who landed to Ahmedabad on Saturday afternoon to cheer for her team. Unlike ShahRukh Khan, Shilpa has been traveling with her team everywhere. Shilpa wants to be fine before their next match which is on Wednesday March 24 at Mohali. Their next match will be with Preity Zinta's Kings XI Paunjab. It can be recalled that few days back Preity Zinta was also down with fever and sore throat. We hope Shilpa gets well soon before Rajsthan Royal's next match!

Mani Ratnam and Shahrukh clash on titles

Shahrukh Khan's Ra One is expected to go on floors on March 20th, 2010. Prior to its first schedule, the actor wanted to clarify on the title. Shahrukh's fans were a bit confused over the name Ra. One which is similar to Mani Ratnam's Raavan. Clarifying on it, the King Khan says that both the films belong to a different genre. While Raavan will hit the screens during the mid-2010, Ra. One will make its appearance only during the fag end of the year. Shahrukh says Ra. One is a science fiction and superman-based subject. The film will have Kareena Kapoor playing the lead role. Wielding the megaphone for this venture is Anubhav Sinha

Shah Rukh plans to sell Knight Riders

After dropping "Kolkata" from Indian Premier League team Kolkata Knight Riders, actor Shah Rukh Khan has started discussions with Nokia, Sahara, the Anil Ambani group, and several other companies to sell the team he bought just over a year ago for Rs 300 crore (Rs 3 billion), and exit the business. According to sources in Red Chillies Entertainment, KKR's holding company, "Shah Rukh Khan has been trying to sell a stake in KKR for some time now. But since most companies he approached also wanted management control, Khan is now talking to Nokia, Sahara, Anil Ambani and others to sell his entire shareholding."

Khan's public relations officer, however, said she would not be able to confirm the development because she had not met the actor. None of those who have reportedly been approached confirmed the development. Sahara India's communications director Abhijit Sarkar said: "We have not been approached by Shah Rukh Khan yet. But if he does, we would be happy to buy the team." D Shivakumar, vice-president and managing director (markets), Nokia India, sent a text message saying: "Shah Rukh Khan will keep the team."

A Reliance Communications spokesperson declined to comment. "A lot of people negotiate with Anil Ambani. I cannot comment unless there is something concrete on table." According to the Red Chillies official, Khan wants to exit, owing to the team's poor performance -- so far the team has won only one rain-curtailed game under the Duckworth Lewis method--and rising costs.  "If the Board for Control of Cricket in India does not increase the number of teams for next year, Khan could get double what he paid," said the Red Chillies official. Khan is supposed to pay Rs 30 crore (Rs 300 million) per year for the next 10 years. The total annual cost for the team is about Rs 75 crore (Rs 750 million).

Khan had earlier said that KKR was easily the most successful IPL franchise, making a Rs 13 crore (Rs 130 million) profit last year. However, his costs trebled last year owing to interventions from the Kolkata Municipal Corporation and Cricket Association of Bengal.  According to initial calculations, Red Chillies had to pay Rs 90 lakhs (Rs 9 million) per match and was supposed to earn Rs 3 crore if all stadium tickets were sold at Eden Gardens. Red Chillies had to pay Rs 20 lakhs (Rs 2 million) to the police and municipal tax of Rs 500,000. So its expenses per match would have been over Rs 1 crore (Rs 10 million). But this figure had trebled.

Last year, however, Kolkata Police demanded Rs 2 crore as security fees, against Rs 50 lakhs (Rs 5 million) that the organisers of the IPL offered. Then, the Kolkata Municipal Corporation demanded Rs 25 lakhs (Rs 2.5 million) from Red Chillies as amusement tax for holding IPL matches at Eden Gardens. To settle the dispute between Kolkata Police and the IPL organisers over the cost of security arrangements at Eden Gardens, Red Chillies Entertainment had to agree to pay Rs 75 lakhs (Rs 7.5 million) as security fees.

Shahrukh and Karan Johar set for clash?

It is more by default than by design. Shahrukh Khan ’s home production Billoo Barber is set for clash with his good buddy Karan Johar ’s movie Dostana in November.

The Diwali this year won’t possibly have fireworks at the box-office. First, Akshay Kumar’s Chandni Chowk To China got postponed for at least four weeks due to technical glitches, now, SRK’s ‘Billoo Barber’ is reported to be pushed ahead by two weeks from Diwali weekend to Childrens’ Day on November 14.

But there is a hitch. The postponement will put SRK’s movie on collision course with Karan Johar’s much-anticipated home production ‘Dostana’, which stars Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham as two friends pretending to be gays.

Incidentally, SRK’s movie ‘Billoo Barber’ is also about two friends – one a barber, the other a superstar. Irrfan Khan plays the barber while SRK plays his superstar friend.

Though the clash of SRK’s and Johar’s movie isn’t yet confirmed, but if it does happen the two movies might end up eating each other’s market share. And then there’s also Harman Baweja ’s second film Victory set to hit the theatres on the same day.

With three big movies releasing on the same day, we can expect fireworks on Childrens’ Day.
