After a gap of nearly four months, Congress MP from Kadapa Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday finally moved into his Banjara Hills residence, vacating the official residence of the chief minister at Begumpet, where his late father Y S Rajasekhara Reddy was staying till his death.
The sudden decision to vacate the Begumpet residence comes a day after the Joint Action Committee of students of Osmania University questioned his continuance in that house, when the police were forcibly evicting students from the University hostels.
Jagan’s supporters, in fact, announced in the past that he would be vacating the House on October 5 itself, but that had been postponed in the wake of Kurnool floods. They still had a last ray of hope that he would become the chief minister, but after Rosaiah was declared the CLP leader and Jagan was denied assembly ticket for Pulivendula byelections, they lost the hope.
He told the officials that he would vacate the house after Christmas and he did the same.
