Sun rise is our symbol. There are 24 rays to the sun in the flag which denotes that we spread the energy and light of sun throughout 24 hours. Red color of sun is symbol of change. White background is the mixture of vibgyor which represents people from all castes. The green streak indicates farmers. The yellow line around sun represents the smile that we will bring on the faces of every citizen. Red, White and Green represent Hindu, Christian and Muslims. Hence we are equally good for all the religions.

Telanga has lot of cultural and historical heritage. It has natural resources and a great history. People have opinion that injustice is done to Telangana. Telangana has ‘athma gourava samasya’. I will respect the sentiment. If we have to separate Andhra from Telangana, I am willing to cooperate.

Selling lands like doing injustice to our future generations. I am completely against. Government is misusing farmer lands by grabbing from them and giving it to SEZ. Organized corruption should go
People generally take bribes to do things that are illegal and illegitimate. But here in India, most of the officers take bribes to do their duty. I want to cleanse corruption from the top level starting from political system. Hunger, necessity and greediness are three things that drive corruption. One can cure people who are corrupt because of hunger and necessity. But we should eliminate people who do corruption because of greediness.

There are people who are above the social condition of availing 2/- per kg rice and who also can’t afford 25/- for a kg of rice. There are many labors and lower middle class people who are in this segment. I would bring justice to them.

Education is second priority
Only wealthy people are getting in to good educational institutes. Education has become business, but not the service. The economically backward people do not have money for the higher education.

Health is third priority
Poor pregnant women are giving birth to baby in the verandah of Gandhi hospital because hospital did not have bed. It is such a pathetic situation in general hospitals. Most of the people can’t office corporate hospital. The hospitals are in bad shape in villages.

I had single meal a day in beginning days of career
In my beginning days of my career I used to have single meal every day as I could not afford food for twice everyday. I need 300 rupees per month as expenses during my stay at Chennai. But I asked my parents to send only 150 rupees. I used to have meals only once and used to have water and tea during the remaining part of the day.

I studied my intermediate in Sharma college of Ongole. As we could not afford pants, I had to wear knickers even in my intermediate. I had to cooperate with parents and wear knickers though I was embarrassed.

I was the elder son in a family of lower middle class family. I used remember the days when I had to get the groceries home by walk as we did not have enough money to travel in a rickshaw. There were times when we did not have money and we used to pool the change so that we could live for the next two days using that change.

An old woman got injured in the stampede that took place at Avilala. Her condition is said to be serious. The organisers sought the police to take over the public blocks and control the crowds.

With hardly half an hour left for the real countdown to begin, clouds are playing truant over the sprawling venue at Tirupati. Though scorching heat prevailed till 3.00 PM, slowly the weather began to change, with gathering clouds and at the same time dissipating now and then allowing the Sun to shine again. The same weather continues till this time ( 5.00 PM) with 31 degrees Celsius.

Volunteers and police are making joint efforts to make the physically handicapped persons reach their specified blocks in front of the dais. With traffic jam hitting various centers in the pilgrim town, those intending to reach the venue have started coming by walk. However, some of the physically handicapped are seen wading the long distance with much difficulty.

The organizers of Chiranjeevi sabha arranged 25 lacs of water packets to be given free of cost to the fans and lovers of Chiranjeevi who came to the venue in the scorching heat of Tirupati. 8 ambulances have been arranged. A young girl of 14 years was injured when a sharp object hit her in the head, resulting in the bleeding injury. However, the women surrounding her immediately took her to a corner and rendered first aid, sprinkling water on her face and putting bandage with saree cloth.

Unruly scenes at Avilala
Unruly scenes prevailed at the public meeting venue with tussle between organisers and the crowds. The crowds threw whatever object they found in their vicinity - chairs and broken pieces of wood (used for barricading) at the volunteers, who in turn started beating the crowds with lathis. The police are finding it tough to control the surging crowds. The police authorities have dispatched additional forces from Madanapalli and Chittoor to control the crowds by the time Chiru would arrive at the venue.

Tirupati, Aug 25 (IANS) Telugu star Chiranjeevi is set to announce the name and policies of his new political party in this temple town in Andhra Pradesh Tuesday at a rally expected to be attended by a million people.

The actor, who announced his entry into politics Aug 17, will declare the agenda of his 'pro-poor' party, which may alter the political equations in the southern state ahead of the March 2009 assembly elections.

It will be a one-man show at Avilal Cheruvu or Avilala lake bed ground. Chiranjeevi alone will occupy the dais during the massive show of strength planned in true filmi style. Congress MP Hariram Jogaiah, who has joined Chianjeevi's party, said the actor would be the only speaker.

Jogaiah and also leaders of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), who have joined the actor's party in the past one week, besides Chiranjeevi's brother-in-law and chief advisor Allu Arvind, brothers and actors Naga Babu and Pawan Kalyan will sit among the audience.

The decks were cleared for the meet Aug 21 when the Supreme Court refused to stop the event on a petition by a local NGO, which argued that the event on lake bed would harm the environment.

As many as 23 special trains, hundreds of private and state-owned buses will ferry Chiranjeevi fans from different parts of the state. A majority of the people are expected from coastal Andhra, the actor's home region.

As many as 5,000 Telugu NRIs from different countries, mainly the US, are expected to attend the meet. A group of NRIs are already touring parts of the state to mobilise public support for the actor.

Chiranjeevi, who turned 53 Friday, choose Aug 26, the birth anniversary of Mother Teresa, to launch his political party.

At his first news conference, the actor said he was inspired by Mother Teresa and declared that he too was dedicating his life to serve the poor.

After a 30-year career in films, Chiru, as the actor is popularly known, donned a new role like matinee idol N.T. Rama Rao, who changed the course of Andhra politics by coming to power within nine months of launching TDP in 1982.

Chiru, one of the highest paid actors in India and whose fan following is compared to NTR's, is engaged in social services like running blood and eye camps. In another gesture, he enrolled a physically challenged youth as the first member of the party.

Elaborate arrangements have been made for the meeting, which will begin after Chiranjeevi pays obeisance at the Lord Venkateshwara temple on Tirumala Hills. The three-hour meeting is set to begin at 4 p.m.

Adding filmi touch to the mega event, the organisers have hired two helicopters. A chopper will shower flower petals on the venue, while another will record the event, beaming it across 70 huge LCD screens deployed around the area.

Over 3,000 policemen have been deployed at the venue besides an equal number of volunteers of the Chiru Rashtra Yuvatha (youth wing).

In his speech, Chiru is expected to explain the reasons for taking a plunge into politics, his mission and goals, and announce the policies and programmes of the party.

After the public meeting, Chiru will form core committee of the party and launch state-wide tour to mobilize public support for the party.

Today is AP’s brand new political leader Chiranjeevi’s birthday

Nearly a quarter of century after, the people of Andhra Pradesh are getting ready for a second-revolution in state politics. Needless to say, it was late NT Rama Rao, who unleashed an era of political awareness in the state, when he launched the Telugu Desam Party in March 1982. It was only last week that Megastar Chiranjeevi considered more or less equal in stature with late NTR, by glamour or public pull, launched his political party. Today (August 22) is his 53rd birthday. Perhaps, going by his words that – I have dedicated my life to people of Andhra Pradesh – this happens to be the last private birthday of him. Community politics
Never than before, Andhra Pradesh is surely caught in the mire of community politics. Call it euphoria. Each and every caste worth a size is spearheading an agitation for its stake in the governance. The BC segment has emerged the king in the recent months, with every political party budging to its demands. Or at least, they (parties) are afraid of the factor’s onslaught on their fortunes in the coming elections. There has prevailed a major social awareness on the part of the Dalits and minorities as well. The scenario of education has improved amazingly over the last two and half decades. At this hi-tech age, how far the glamour factor will work out for Chiranjeevi’s party. Glamour part is largely viewed as a broken chunk with its mass forming not more than 10 percent of the gross. In order to win the confidence of the people, Chiranjeevi has to come out with a party agenda. Definitely, the entire course of his action would depend on this.

Wavering campaigns and schemes
Going by Dr. Mitra’s words (Chiru’s political advisor), Chiranjeevi’s party will never be attacking the other political parties. The party would be concentrating more on seeking the public vote with a singular point – Give us a chance this time. We will show the difference. But, the Congress party is in the forefront of political mileage thanks to the populist schemes like Arogya Sri, Rajiv Grihakalpa, Food for School Children and such like. The TDP Supremo recently covered a 117-day Mee Kosam yatra, claiming a sweeping wave in favor of his party. The BJP is banking on the national issues. The Communists are yet to decide their political course of action, with no word about their alliances in the coming elections. In such a situation, a campaign without masala will not give any kick to the voters.

Telangana Issue
Chiranjeevi image as megastar is equally distributed from Ichchapuram to Chittoor. Such being the case, how would Chiranjeevi respond to the Telangana issue? Will Chiru’s “Chiru Navvula Andhra Pradesh and Santhosh Andhra Pradesh” be possible without Telangana? How would the Rayalaseema and Coastal areas respond to Chiru’s stand on T, if he were to take any?

Farmers & Villages
The political criticism is that Chiranjeevi doesn’t know anything about farmers’ issues and he has no knowledge of life in villages. At this point of attack, the immediate option before the actor is to make a whirlwind tour of the state. Except for seeing him on the small screen and big screen, how many people have seen him directly in the state? Will he convince the masses that he is not alien to the farmers’ issues and their villages? How fast? This is important.

Film fraternity
When late NTR launched his political party, he could pull the entire film fraternity, but for a few big names, to his side. Coming to Chiranjeevi, it is not clear yet. Today’s film industry has split itself, politically. During the last elections, there was absolutely no star campaigning. But, the people are going to have so many stars this time. Will they accept this glamour this time? It is a big question for the political analysts.

Corporate Culture
Unlike other political parties, Chiranjeevi’s party office is being built with a difference. It looks like a corporate office. What about it’s functioning? Politics means not sitting before computers and CC TVs, already criticism has come out. The need of the hour is less concentration on corporate culture and more on people’s friendly strategies.

Money and Liquor power
The dynamics of election campaign has changed immensely in the last one decade. Money and liquor flow like anything. Nobody can deny this. A single vote would be costing from Rs. 1, 000 to Rs. 2,000 in sheets of villages across the state, hit by poverty, floods or failure of crops. This factor will change the fate of politics overnight. This is going to be the monstrous problem for Chiranjeevi party. To what extent, his party would educate the people against this perpetual evil has to be seen.

Chiranjeevi to meet YSR and Chandra Babu

The itinerary of filmstar Chiranjeevi is all packed. As head of a political party, he will meet the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekar Reddy, the former Chief Minister, Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu, and the Governor, Mr N.D. Tiwari, in a couple of days. Political leaders wondered what would be the topic of discussion between them.

There has been no such courtesy meetings between political party heads till date in the state. Chiranjeevi’s office phoned Mr Chandrababu Naidu office on Monday to inform him of this. But as both leaders are busy with their pre-decided schedule a meeting could not be materialized. Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi will meet the Governor, Mr Tiwari, before meeting any other political leader. "It would be a courtesy meeting. As I decided to join politics, it would be a nice gesture to meet leaders of other political parties," Chiranjeevi observed. Both Chiranjeevi and Mr Naidu are good friends for a long time and wives of both the leaders also enjoy regular meetings.

On Tuesday, some more people joined the star’s party. Freedom fighter Sardar Gouthu Lachhanna’s daughter Ms Jhansi, TRS leader Jannu Jakaraiah joined the party. A batch of doctors led by Dr Noorjahan from Mahabubnagar district also took party membership. Resigned MP Ch Harirama Jogaiah formally joined the party in the presence of Chiranjeevi. The film star welcomed the veteran leader and said the party would utilise his experience and knowledge for party building.

Chiranjeevi fans hungama in Machilipatnam

The mood of Chiranjeevi’s supporters was that of jubilation when the mega star officially announced his entry into politics this evening. They went round the town on scooters hailing their leader and describing him as the future of the State.

Under the leadership of Vamsi Krishna Dulipudi, Chiranjeevi Seva Samithi in Machilipatnam, Chiru supporters distributed sweets and played with colors, congratulating one and another. Several of the actor’s supporters celebrated the occasion by bursting crackers at different places in the town. A rally was taken out from Parasupet center to Koneru Center by a large number of Chiru supporters where crackers were burst, cakes were cut. Later Vamsi Krishna garlanded Mother Theresa statue at Lakshmi Talkies center.

Yes, we are going to have it. Now let me tell you… what is the necessity for Chiranjeevi to come into politics? He clearly observed the state of affairs. Our state is endowed with the best of the natural and human resources. He wanted the prudential use of these factors. Also, he wants to concentrate on the areas of health and education. Above all, Chiranjeevi always says that sensitivity in politics is need of the hour. People should respond to the public issues more sensitively. Selfish politicians are enemies to rural uplift - Pawan Kalyan
Pawan Kalyan said: “As far as my knowledge goes, most of the NRIs from Andhra Pradesh come from very ordinary families. But, they proved themselves by hard work and struggle. Moved by the philosophy of Annayya (Chiru), I appeal to you…. Please go for adoption of villages for the sake your native state and its development. All big enthusiasts should come forward. The backward regions should get the patronage. Though a number of good hearted NRIs are there to adopt the villages for development, this is not being allowed in many areas because of local politics. Such elements are not interested in the development of villages. But, we shall progress in this direction under the leadership of Annayya.”

Protection of Human rights most important
“I have always been moved by an urge… to do something, yes to do something for my people. What is there in looking after our selfish goals always? I waited for the right person, right force. Now, I found Annayya is that person. Now, he has emerged for us. Let all of us work like activists for him. We should not forget that protection of human rights is most important. Downtrodden and deprived sections should be uplifted. Annayya Chiranjeevi will fulfill all these things,” Pawan Kalyan added.

The fan tried to give a pictorial description of rural poverty in Andhra Pradesh. "I was returning to Hyderabad from Karimnagar after participating in the rally organized by fans there. By the road side, I saw a 70-year-old man rearing a flock of sheep. He was running after them on rocks and thorns. I felt very bad. I felt like weeping. What's this? Why should an old man rear sheep and cattle? I want to change this. I believe only Chiru can bring change that I want." Dr. Mitra assured him that a scientific study would be launched as how the old people could be helped in all aspects of health, food and decent living, particularly in the rural areas.

About 150 NRIs from the USA and Canada have today arrived in Hyderabad by a charted flight to meet Chiranjeevi. A big gathering of mega fans reached Samshabad airport and welcomed the NRIs. Rivalry with Neither YSR Nor Naidu:
When a journalist asked who Chiranjeevi‘s political rival is, he answered, "I have no rivalry with present parties. And there wouldn‘t be any in future. My rivalry is with hunger, diseases and poor living standards. I fight with them for rest of my life".

Return To Film Industry:
When asked if there is any chance to act again on screen, he said, "I‘m deeply sad for retiring from film industry. But I may act again on screen if a role commands me which will be useful for society. I do that as a part of social service only".

Before 30 Years:
"Everyone knows what I did in past 30 years. But no one knows what I did earlier to that. I hailed from a middle class constable family. I used to plough land those days. I know what irrigation is and what agriculture is".

My Sensitiveness:
"People say I may not be fit for politics as I‘m sensitive. But I say that today‘s plight is bad as politicians are not sensitive at heart. I feel my sensitive heart may understand the problems of people in better way and find immediate solutions for those problems. My sensitive heart is required for betterment of society, I feel (laughs)".
