Rebellious leader Y S Jaganmohan Reddy, who resigned from his Lok Sabha membership and also the Congress party, made a strategic move in giving a call to the party MLAs supporting him not to resign from the party.
In his five-page open letter written to party president Sonia Gandhi, Jagan made it clear that he did not want to create the impression that he was splitting the party. “Neither the Congress party nor chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy should have any apprehensions that I will split the party by asking the MLAs supporting me to resign. I have also told them that there is no need for them to resign. There is no threat to the Congress government in the state,” he said.
The assurance given by Jagan is nothing but a clever strategy to further embarrass the Congress high command. He wants the MLAs supporting him to continue in the party and create troubles for the chief minister by raising various issues, participating in his Odarpu Yatra and continuing to defy the leadership. In a way, Jagan wants to create a situation that the high command would be compelled to expel them from the party. In a way, there will be a rebel camp within the Congress which remains a thorn in the flesh of the chief minister as well as the high command.
