The Film Nagar Cultural Centre (FNCC), Hyderabad, had proudly presented the Film Awards for the year 2007 at a colorful function on the eve of New Year. A 14-member management committee of the FNCC made judicious selection of the entries. The announcement was directly made from sealed covers, thus bringing a new trend in the industry. The venue was full with the biggies of the industry. The dance numbers by Nataraj, Abhinayasree, Poonam Bajwa, Archana, Gowri Mumjal and others enthralled one and all.
Coming to Awards, NTR got the Best Actor Award for his raking performance in Rakhee and Yamadonga. He received the award from the joint presence of KS Rama Rao, Arjuna Raju, Ashwini Dutt and KL Narayana. Best Actress Award went to Genelia for the film Dhee. She received it from D. Ramanaidu. Dr. Brahmanandam got the Best Comedian Awarde from KL Narrayana. Sindhu Menon got the Best Supporting Actress for Chandamama, while it was Ahuti Prasad who got Best Supporting Actor for his performance in the same film. Ratnavelu got the Best Cinematographer Award for his film Jagadam. KM Radha Krishna got the Best Music Director Award for the film Chandamama. Posani Murali KrishnaBest Script Writer Award. Sekhar Kammula got the Best Screenplay writer Award. obtained the
Sekhar Kammula’s Happy Days won the Best Feature film Award. Chandamama received the special jury Award. Best Director Award went to Sekhar Kammula. Megastar’s son Ramcharan got the Sensational Star of 2007 Award for this debut and arresting performance in Chirutha. He received the award amidst huge round of applause from FDC chairman G. Adiseshagiri Rao.
Speaking on this occasion, NTR said: “I am happy to receive the Best Actor Award for my performance in Rakhee and Yamadonga, for which I profusely thank Krishnavamsi and Rajamouli. While Rakhee gave me a new lease of life, it was Yamadonga who gave me encouragement. I also thank all the unit members of these two films.”
Ram Charan Tej said: “This is the first award in my career. I will ever remember this happy occasion. I would like to share this award with my first director Puri Jagannath.”
Sekhar Kammula said: “I made Happy Days especially for the students of Andhra Pradesh. We have reached our target by 200 percent. Though the movie is done with all new comers, the people had blessed us with a big heart and I am thankful to all of them. I am doing to come with another superb movie for you in this year itself.”
KS Rama Rao said: “We arranged this function in a very short time. Several dignitaries could not make it out to the venue for lack of time. We will organize this in a more calculated way from next year onwards. These are the awards given by the industry for the industry people. This feature would continue from now onwards without break.”
