According to the secretary of the AP Film chamber of Commerce, as many as 600 films are lying in cans at various labs in the city in various stages of completion.
The global meltdown and the slump in real estate marker are the primary reason for the cash crunch that has led to the situation.
Some of the big films that have either been temporarily shelved or abandoned are JD Chakravarthy’s ‘Mahathma Gandhi’s Autobiography’, the Charmy and Venu starrer ‘Mayagadu’, hero Uday Kiran’s movie in the direction of Chandrashekar Yeleti and ‘Priyuralu’ with Sakshi Sivananand and Vineeth in the lead.
