Managements of cinema houses are demanding that film producer K Balachandran and Seven Arts proprietor Vijayakumar reimburse Rs 40 crore for the loss that they have incurred in buying the Tamil film Kuchelan (Katanayakudu in Telugu). The managements of the theatres claimed that they had bought the film, offeringhigherprice because it is starred by super star Rajinikanth. But the film failed at the box office, dashing their hopes of collecting expected revenue.
Rajnikanth is holding discussions with producers on the issue of reimbursing the loss that the theatres had incurred by screening Kuchelan.
Kamalhassan has denied that that he has written the story and script and is also directing the film. This huge budgeted film is being produced by his own production unit Raj Kamal in a joint venture wIth Pyramid Sai Meera Groups. The film will be on a par with international standards
