Sekhar Kammula at Cannes Film Festival: Creative director Sekhar Kammula was one of the six directors invited for this year's (2011) Cannes Film Festival. This is terrific achievement by Sekhar Kammula and is one of those rare feats where a Telugu cinema director has been invited to Cannes Film Festival.
Sekhar Kammula's claim to fame Anand and Happy Days movies would be playing important roles at the Cannes Film Festival. Other film directors from India include Anurag Kashyap (Dev D Gulal), Dibakar Banarjee (Oye Lucky Lucky Oye, Love Sex Aur Dokha), Anusha Rizvi (Peepli Live), Laximikant Shetgaonkar (Paltadacho Munis), and Haobam Paban Kumar (AFSPA 1958).
The Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting will be promoting six Indian filmmakers at this year's Cannes International Film Festival, scheduled to be held from May 11 to 22, as apart of a the continuous effort framed to enhance the collaboration between Indian and overseas film industries. These filmmakers will be introduced through a series of meetings and networking events at the India Pavilion in the international village.
The events include networking sessions with France’s CNC, Telefilm Canada, the Screen Producers Association of Australia (SPAA) and Israeli delegates. In addition, trailers and information kits about the selected directors work will be presented.
