Stating that the Telugu Desam party under Nara Chandrababu Naidu is a sinking ship and none can save it from immersion, the NTR Telugu Desam president,Ms.Nandamuri Lakshmi Parvathi,on Tuesday appealed to the late NTR's sons and grandsons to keep off Mr.Naidu who is trying to use them like pawns in the coming elections to come back to power.
Talking to media persons at NTR-TD office at Banjara Hills, here Ms.Parvathi said that Mr.Naidu fleeced NTR family members to the hilt and now trying to mortgage their personal lives for gaining power for self and his son.She said that a part from dethroning late NTR,Mr.Naidu treacherously used his sons, especially Mr.Hari krishna, for remaining in power by inducting him in to his Cabinet for a while. As the party has no charisma,Mr.Naidu made Mr.Hari krishnaa Rajya Sabha member and trying to use Balakrishna,Junior NTR and others in the election campaigning.
Ms.Lakshmi Parvathi asked NTR's sons when the party was his late father's,why should they bow to dictates of Mr.Naidu, who was a staunch Congressman."Cannot Mr.Naidu make either Balakrishna or Hari krishna as party president and work for strengthening party? In that case,I will also work for 24 hours like al oyal soldier to restore the party its past glory",she challenged.
Ms.Parvathi urged the NTR kin to understand her genuine feelings and try to give a new lease of life to the party founded by NTR by taking it over from power-hungry Naidu. She specifically cautioned Junior NTR not to sacrifice his lucrative film career for the sake of Mr.Naidu who is trying to use them like curry leaves.
Asked whether her party (NTR TD) would contest the next elections, she said that neither she has cadre nor money to do so.Replying to another question, she said it was too early to talk about alliance with any party.Without naming anybody, she said the new comers in politics may not fare well as they are in experienced. She praised the Dr.Y.S.Rajasekhara Reddy government for bringing lakhs of acres under irrigation through Jalayagnam and improving the lot of the poor by launching many a social welfare programme."During Mr.Chandrababu Naidu's rule, there were no rains and the State was reeling under drought conditions,"she quipped, adding that the State was having good rain fall for the past five years.
