Mallanna’s song sequence in a theatre

Though the number of films being produced are on the higher side these days, a matter of concern has been the declining patronage for many theatres. Gaiety, one of the oldest theatres in Chennai, was the darling of English film goers once upon a time, has been converted into a studio. Old-timers still reminisce about the theatre and the ‘grand old days’.

One consolation for this theatre is that it has not been demolished but has been converted into a big studio. It is in the news as a song sequence from Susi Ganesan’s Mallanna is being shot here. The film was already in the news some time ago when the lead pair shot a salsa song in
Mexico city. While we had reported that they impressed even the locals with their graceful steps, it remains to be seen if the audience will applaud the steps when they see it on screen.

What’s wrong in partying, Sanjana

Life has take a completely new turn ever since Sanjana made her Tollywood debut with Bujjigadu.  “Now there’s no looking back,” says the 19-year-old Bengaluru girl who plans to concentrate on Telugu films even though she did act in a Kannada film. Point out that not all Tollywood movies are about the woman of today, and she quips she’s is willing to experiment. “As an actress it’s my job to be versatile. I am ready to play a village belle in a sari if the character demands such a look,” adds Sanjana. Though she played a smaller role in Bujjigadu where Trisha played the main female lead opposite Prabhas, Sanjana now wants to pick meaty roles where all the attention is on her.

Her current projects are Satyameva Jayate opposite Rajasekhar,  Samarthadu with Raja and Police Police with Srikanth. Sanjana is one actress who is always seen in the party circuit in the city and who readily poses for teh shutterbugs. “What’s wrong in wanting to have a good time with friends?” she exclaims. This Bengaluru-based Sindhi girl has no plans to move to Bollywood right now. “I will turn 20 next month and I still have a  long way to go. I am on my way to stardom,” Sanjana confidently declares. With appreciation pouring in from critics, she is all excited.  “Now I am doubly focussed on my career. I listen to every script carefully and I am all set to take on the film industry,” Sanjana says.
