Nothing makes for better publicity than a controversy. And so Kanthaswamy has one of its own now. The Tamil film’s song Excuse me Mr Kanthaswamy has run into some trouble. Lyricist Elango has filed a petition in Madras High Court claiming that the song credited to another lyricist has actually been penned by him. A sum of Rs 1 lakh is what he’s claiming as compensation. If agreed to, it would mark a first in Kollywood where a lyricist has earned more for song than by writing it.
The song is already gaining on the music charts. Devi Sri Prasad’s tunes for the film are already creating a lot of hype for it. The complete soundtrack is to be launched in the first week of February. Hailed as the most awaited film of 2009, Kanthaswamy is supposedly an exciting mix of reality and fantasy, written and director by Susi Ganeshan, once a deputy to Mani Ratnam.
