All of sudden a charming beauty appeared on TV and created flutter in the cine industry. 'Shyamala aunty' who claimed herself as a Jogini from Vemulawada town appeared in front of the TV channels yesterday. Joginis, alternately known as devdasis, basivis, matammas and venkatasanis in other states of South India, are women 'married off' to a goddess, sometimes when they are barely six years old. Once the girls attain puberty, they are trained to become courtesans, catering to the villagers. The girls undergo an elaborate ceremony at which liquor flows freely and some influential villagers 'initiate' them into the profession. TV channels started the scrolling by titling her as 'Hot Aunty' Shyamala. Even a channel quoted that, Shyamala is a male named Shyam but got transformed as Shyamala. Many film personalities started chatting with her in a Live Program. Incidentally some callers from Warangal wished her all the best for her stint in the Telugu films and said that they are proud that she is from the Telangana region. Even some film personalities like Uttej talked with her. She says that her favorite hero is Prabhas and she would like to act as character artiste in his film or even Mahesh Babu. Going by the sensation she has created and since few producers and directors are hunting for Telangana talent, her wish is likely to be fulfilled and we can have a stunningly beautiful jogini adorning the silver screen very soon.
