Rajini to discuss politics with fans
The big question has arisen once more. Will Rajinikanth finally take the political plunge or not? "If I am ordained by God to don the role of a politician, I will do it," he said in his usual style. After returning from Peru
"We will know the date of our meeting with Rajini Sir on Monday," said Om Sekar, president of Chennai wing of Rajini fans’ associations. A meeting of district presidents of fans’ associations from across the state with state president of fans’ clubs Mr Sathyanarayana earlier this month led to this prospective meeting of the fans with their beloved star.
While the fans are aflutter about the outcome of the meeting, the city is flooded with posters seeking Rajinikanth’s political entry. "Thalaiva Vaa, Thalamaiyerka Vaa" (Come Our Leader, Come and Lead Us) they exhort the reluctant superstar. "Even the flag of Rajini fans’ clubs was never formally launched by our Thalaivar (leader). They are not even the same across various districts," Mr Ganesan, another fan pointed out.
Sources said that the official launch of a flag of Rajini fan clubs and a social organisation could happen at the meeting to be held anytime after October 1. "Our leader will not disappoint us this time," hoped Rajendran, a senior functionary of the fans’ associations in the city. Recently Rajini had expunged at least two dialogues in which he disowned his association with politics from the film Kuselan following requests from the fans’ clubs.

Genelia teamed up with Riteish for her first Hindi film ´Tujhe Meri Kasam´ and they were seen together once again in ´Masti´. While ´Tujhe Meri Kasam´ bit the dust at the box office, ´Masti´ hit bull´s eye. But the film´s success didn´t help much in shaping her career.
"I´m very much single. Riteish is a friend. But that´s it. I´ve no idea where these rumours come from. We´re both very busy. When we occasionally meet up, we´re normal with each other, not the least self-conscious about what´s written about us. I´m very new to all this. I´ve done two films with Riteish - ´Tujhe Meri Kasam´ and ´Masti´," Genelia told us.
The actress forayed into showbiz with Amitabh Bachchan as her co-star.
"I did a Parker pen ad with him when I was still a kid. It seems I´ve been acting forever. I started young, yes. In 2003, I had three releases in Hindi, Tamil and Telugu. Strangely acting was never an option. That ad was directed by Mansoor Khan. He kept me in mind for ´Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na´, and here I am," she said.
"Actually ´Jaane Tu...´ was being produced by Jhamu Sugandh first. That´s when I screen tested for the role of Aditi. I met the director Abbas Tyrewala and he almost finalised me. But he needed bulk dates from me and I was busy down South. He wanted to shoot at a stretch. I couldn´t do that.
"Then one day I got a call from Aamir Khan´s office. Abbas wanted a complete newcomer. But Aamir wanted a girl who suited the character. The next thing I knew, I was on board."
Genelia said she was never that keen on an acting career.
"But when I saw how I was appreciated down South, I fell in love with the industry. I´ve been lucky. I didn´t plan anything. I´ve never contacted a single producer. So far it´s been an awesome journey."
After Tamil and Telugu, Genelia has just made her debut in a Kannada film.
"I´m sure I´ll be able to dub in all the South Indian languages soon. I know I can do it. I just need to get the slangs and colloquialisms correct. Honestly, I need to dub my own lines in the South to give complete performances."
Like Asin, Genelia is now dividing her time between Bollywood and the South.
"I´m getting a lot of calls in Mumbai. I want to balance it out. But the priority would be Hindi films right now because I´ve worked really long in the South. But my South Indian films are also very important.
"I get very satisfying roles in Tamil and Telugu. And I can´t let them go. Let´s just say I´ll do one film down South for every two films I do here. In any case, they wrap up their films superfast down South.
"I also had fun doing Priyadarshan´s ´Mere Baap Pehle Aap´. I enjoy doing films in all languages and genres."
She said that her commitment to southern directors affected her Bollywood career.
"I got busy with the South; that´s the only reason why it took me so long to get noticed in Bollywood. There´s a buzz about ´Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Na´ because it was Imran´s debut film."
Right now she is busy shooting for ´It´s My Life´ with Harman Baweja. It is a Hindi remake of Telugu hit, ´Bommarilu´.
"I´ve done the original in Telugu. Then I also did the remake in Tamil. Now I´m doing it in Hindi. The Tamil and Telugu versions were similar. But the Hindi version is very different. Today, both the South and Hindi are high-potential industries for me. I´m still a newcomer in Bollywood."
Siddhardh’s Konchem Istam Konchem Kastam for Sankranthi
65% of shoot of Siddhardh’s next film ‘Konchem Istam Konchem Kastam’ is complete. This film sports Tamanna as heroine in the direction of Dolly (Kishore Pardhasani). This is his debut film. Nallamalupu Bujji (producer of Lakshmi, Lakshyam and Chintakayala Ravi) produces it The main story of the film revolves around Siddhardh, Tamanna, Prakash Raj (hero’s father), Ramya Krishna (hero’s mother) and Nazar (heroine’s father). Brahmanandam and Venu Madhav and others form the prominent cast. This film sports the best of the technicians like cinematographer Vijay Chakravarthy (Bommrillu fame), music director trio Shankar – Ehsaan – Loy and Sreekar Prasad (editing). Bujji is planning to release the film on January 14th 2009. Audio function will be held on huge scale with live performances by the musician trio in December 2008.

Kamal Hassan's Rs 125 crore magnum opus Marmayogi will have not one or two but four beautiful heroines -- Trisha, Shriya, Hema Malini and two-time National Award winner Shobhana. Shobhana is the latest to be a part of the trilingual film. Earlier she neither denied nor confirmed her role in the film stating that it would be better for Kamal Hassan to confirm the same.
According Srinivasan of Pyramid Saimira group of production, the shooting for Marmayogi would commence sometime in mid-October. Director Teja’s secrets revealed
Teja has been shooting Keka for quite some days with rapid pace. The lead actors, the villain and the comedians are new actors, we are told. Executive producer Kethireddy Jagadeeswara Reddy reveals that this film is a triangle love story with two leading men falling for the same girl. Teja’s screenplay brings in a fresh feel without letting the audience feel a sense of déjÀ vu, he says. “The girl is engaged to the villain. He knows that the hero is in love with her. So he pretends that he is sacrificing his love to make the hero happy. And they all come here to celebrate.”
Teja has maintained absolute secrecy about his star cast throughout the making. Raja, son of veteran lyricist Seetharama Sastry, plays the hero. Every one calls him Raja on the sets and his full name is not revealed. Since there is already a hero by the same name, a colleague preferred to refer him as ‘Sirivennela’ Raja. Kanjana, a Mumbai model, plays the female lead and Anup is the villain. The rest of the actors are drawn from the star hunt contest held by Teja in association with Suresh Productions for a satellite television channel. “We are introducing 28 newcomers to the industry,” informs the director. What’s cooking Ileana?
Pretty Ileana who impressed us with her acting skills is now showcasing a so far unknown facet of her personality --- cooking. The hotshot actress of Raakhi and Pokiri fame claims to be an absolute foodie, who loves to savour all kinds of food including Chinese and Indian cuisine, but Hyderabadi remains her favourite. Unlike other actresses, Ileana is not calorie-conscious and indulges in sumptuous food and high-calorie desserts. And is quite skilled at dishing out desserts too! Ileana's mother tells that she bakes delicious cakes for her younger siblings when she's away.
As Ileana tells us herself, "My younger sister likes my preparations and very recently she appreciated my pancake. I hope she has no complaints (laughs)”. Aamir’s not happy with Ghajini
Aamir Khan is a thorough perfectionist. And the actor is currently concentrating on Ghajini which is going to be his next release after Tare Zameen Par. According to a unit hand, Ghajini is complete and therefore Murugadoss kept a special screening for Aamir. Apparently, after watching the film Aamir realized that some scenes require changes and he has asked the director to re-shoot those.

Ramu to make Gayam sequel
After a horror flick Rashes, producer Ramgopal Varma and actor Jagapathi Babu are teaming up again for a sequel of the hit film Gayam, to be helmed by a debutant director. "I have decided to do it but we intend to dish out a perfect sequel," informs the actor who played a good-hearted don in the original edition, while pretty Revathi played his ladylove, more than a decade ago.

Krish talks about his affair with Sangeetha
The industry was abuzz with rumours that Sangeetha got married to singer Krish at Tirupati. When Krish was contacted, he admitted that he and Sangeetha were seeing each other for the last seven months but their wedding would be only in January next year. "A group of friends from the film industry including Sangeetha and I attended actress Maheshwari’s wedding at Tirupati last week. But trust me, I didn’t even get an opportunity to get close to Sangi." He adds, "We don’t have to get married secretly; we want the blessings of both our parents. So our wedding will be arranged by our parents and we will inform everybody when we do get married."
Talking about how their relationship, evolved, he said, "We met each other at a common friend’s family function. I liked her polite manners and she came across as a sweet person. After that we got talking over the phone for the next few months."
It was Sangeetha who proposed to me first and I accepted it." But Isn’t the actress elder to Krish? "No. She is in fact, two years younger to me. The kind of roles she has performed made people think that she must be older than she actually is," he clarifies.
So does Krish have any hang-ups about marrying an actress? "Oh no! Why should I? After all it’s her profession. I respect her a lot for what she is today. In fact, she had opened up to me about what she had undergone in the past in her life. That was when my love for her grew a million times and I started admiring her all the more," he says.
How about her continuing acting even after marriage? "That’s up to her. I have no objection whatsoever." And since Krish’s debut film as a hero Oru Ilainganin Kadhai is jinxed does he plan to act with Sangeetha? "Sounds like a good idea! But as of now, we have not thought about it," said an amused Krish.
Zain Khan shines in fun film 'Hari Puttar' (Hindi Film Review - Rating: **)

A child accidentally left behind alone at home tries to protect his house against two funny criminals - does this ring a bell? You guessed it right, 'Harri Puttar', which Hollywood studio Warner Bros alleged was a copyright violation of their 'Harry Potter' franchise, is also a copy of popular Hollywood movie 'Home Alone'.
While Macaulay Culkin deals with two ordinary burglars trying to break into his house, Zain Khan, who plays the title role in 'Hari Puttar', tries to stop the two criminals from entering his house.
The difference between the original and 'Hari Puttar' is that in the Hindi version the two prowlers are not eyeing valuables in the house - they are after a chip that has valuable information saved on it. Also, Hari is not alone in the house. He has his cousin Tuk Tuk (Swini Khara), who has asthma, for company - again the idea is stolen from the Jodie Foster starrer 'Panic Room' in which Jodie was cooped in a room with her daughter, who suffers from Type 1 diabetes.
Just like Macaulay, Hari too sets up the same traps using household items and befriends a scary old man who comes to his rescue in the climax.
Sarika, who plays Hari's mother, seems to be a perfect replacement for Catherine O'Hara, who played Macaulay's mom in the original. However, the actress fails to play the role as convincingly as Catherine did.
Despite being a copy, the film is entertaining, especially the second half - when Hari thwarts the two criminals' attempts to enter his house.
Vijay Raaz and Saurabh Shukla as the comic criminals are funny, but it is talented Zain who shines as the protagonist. He is as good as Macaulay.
Lillette Dubey and Jackie Shroff look like extras in the film.
Children, who have not seen 'Home Alone', will have fun watching the movie.
Set in London, the film revolves around 10-year-old Hari Prasad Dhoonda (Zain Khan) or Hari Puttar, as he is fondly called.
Hari's father (Zakir Khan) is a professor and has been assigned to work on a secret project at a remote location in Britain. So Hari moves to that country with his father and mother (Sarika).
Hari's father has access to confidential information stored on a chip and safely kept at his house.
Within days of their arrival in London, Hari's aunt (Lilette Dubey) and uncle DK (Jackie Shroff) visit them with their children. The kids of DK's boss also accompany them.
Now, accommodating so many children in the house becomes a problem. At one point everything goes for a spin for Hari - not only is he thrown out of his room, he is also ragged and ridiculed by the other kids.
He in fact wishes that all his family would simply disappear, a wish that comes true.
The film has flaws, but directors - Lucky Kohli and Rajesh Bajaj have been successful in their endeavour to elicit laughter and entertain kids with the film.

Siddhardh’s new film has been titled “Ooie.” (or ‘Ooyee). “Ooyee” is an expression in Telugu to call someone. Siddardh who is currently working for Konchem Ishtam Konchem Kashtam has signed this movie, which is to be directed by newcomer Anand, and produced by Danaiah.

He’s now going overboard in inviting all his T’wood friends, politicians and Rajinikanth for the engagement. He’s planned a series of dinner parties too prior to the engagement. The CM’s family has been told of all the functions that they must attend. Just one question though: Among south Indians, it’s the bride’s family that foots the bill for the engagement and wedding. In this case, since Mohan Babu is planning everything, is he footing the bill?

Strengths: Gopichand
Weaknesses: Screenplay and routine story
My analysis: Camera man Shiva who directed Souryam for the first time in his filmy career miserably failed in screenplay. He scripted a pretty good story which couldn’t be presented properly on screen. The first half of the movie is little dragged with more of Gopichand-Anushka romance and less of the real story. The second half is also dragged with only story and no romance. Shiva also couldn’t establish the real reason for villans chasing the hero until after the interval because of which the movie becomes little confusive till the interval twist is revealed.
That is why I say that camera man should be only a camera man and not a director. For that matter, now-a-days many people in our telugu film industry are shifting from one field to another field because of which the quality of telugu cinema is slowly detoriating. Its been long since the telugu audience saw a good telugu movie.
I sincierly request all the Tollywood technicians to do only the job they are best at and not to jump into other fields spoiling the quality of telugu cinema.
Performances: Gopichand who is the hero of Souryam is the only saving grace of the movie. He looks good as the daring and dasing police officer. His action in action sequences is good and his action in emotional scenes also improved when compared to his earlier movies. He is slowly raising as a mass hero on whom the producers and distributors can safely bet.Anushka is becoming more hot and sexy with every releasing movie. She looks more hot and revealing than her earlier movie Baladoor. She is giving a tough competition for other top telugu heroines like Ileana and Nayanatara and is becoming the numerouno heroine of Tollywood.
Malayalam actor Manoj K Jain and Ajay were good as villans. Director Shiva who showed Manoj as a very cruel villan spoiled the whole tempo when he showed him as a helpless person who runs around Hyderabad on the cal of Gopichand.
Comedians Ali, Raghu Babu and Krishna Bhagavan could bring little laughter in the otherwise serious movie.
Music by Mani Sharma cannot create any impression on the viewer. Except for the first song all other songs are boring and dull. Anushka’s exposing is good in these songs.
Story and direction by Shiva are good but his screenplay is very bad. He couldn’t balance the story in both the halves. There was literally no story in the first half and there was nothing else other than story in the second half. Because of this there was a total mismatch in both the halves.
Story: Young and dynamic Shiva (Gopichand) who is followed by villans reaches Culcutta and joins a college there. Swetha (Anushka) who is also a student in the same college falls in love with him. Ileana’s Suicide Attempt Turns Factual
Ileana’s suicide attempt rumor is circulating among the media from the last two days. But it is said that this rumor is turning into truth. It is said that on Saturday morning she attempted for a suicide and the reason is hinted to be a love failure. This news has been leaked out by a close source to her.Presently, Ileana is in Mumbai and is isolated from the media. Her mother is responding to all the calls made on her cell phone and is disclosing this to be a baseless rumor. When she was asked to let her daughter speak to the media at least on phone, she denied it by saying that, Ileana was sleeping.
But when the matter was unwrapped out from the maid of Ileana’s house, her suicide attempt has turned out to be a fact, as one of them reported it to be true.

We can now bring you further news on the Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan war as news emerges of yet another incident… this time it was Salman threatening Shah Rukh’s wife and kids.According to the rumour mill, Salman got drunk on Monday night and asked his driver to take him over to Shah Rukh’s residence. Salman’s car was seen parked outside Mannat at 8pm and eyewitnesses have said they saw Salman considerably drunk and threatening Shah Rukh’s wife and kids. Shah Rukh himself was not at home.
A source says, "Salman was heard abusing and yelling ‘bahar aa sale, main tujhko dikhata hoon kaun asli Khan hai!" The guards refused to let him in and called up King Khan." Shah Rukh then quickly drove home but Salman had scuppered hastily by then.

Shirya who shot to fame with stupendous success of Sivaji is in trouble over her Hollywood assignments. The Tamil Film Producers Council plans to take action against the sexy actress for not acting in Dhanush film for her foreign assignments.Shriya took an advance from producer Murugesan to star opposite Dhanush, son-in-law of Rajnikanth.
According to Shriya version, she has deposited the amount for the untitled Murugesan film with the South Indian Artistes Association pointing out she is busy with Hollywood commitments.
Ajay Escapes Death
Ajay Devgan escaped death during an action shot for a film in Thailand. Due to change in weather, the chopper moving over him nearly lost control. He escaped unscathed, despite the helicopter blades whizzing inches from him.“Initially, as we started filming and moving around in the shallow waters, the waves were moderate…so we decided to move ahead in the deeper waters since the scene required a proper aerial view which should look like a chase from a top angle,” Ajay wrote on his blog.

Ali, who is usually in cheering mode, was a little frustrated with the heroines and their managers. As the joint secretary of MAA, he strongly supported the need for even artists from Mumbai being members of MAA. He particularly expressed his opinion on the managers. 'Even if the artist is a zero in Mumabi, they are given number one treatment here. That puts a big hole in the money bag of the producer. As soon as they land here they have to rush to Star Hotels and demand for separate dressing rooms and even demand for star treatment for the assistants accompanying them. And more over they want to only work with Venkatesh, Pawan Kalyan etc. Even we acted with Mumbai heroines in the past. The times are different now. There is no discipline and every chance is exploited. To be able to tackle such issues, they should now be members of MAA', said Ali.
Dil Raju to remake ‘Maro Charitra’!
Dil Raju is most happening producer in Tollywood now. He enjoys the position that is akin to some big heroes’ power. This maverick producer further is planning to churn more movies with several directors. One of the projects that he is considering to do is remaking K Balachander’s classic Maro Charitra. Buzz is the cinematographer Ravi Yadav is all set to direct this remake of the classic.

What’s it about!
Vijay (Gopichand) comes to Kolkata in search of his lost sister (Poonam Kaur). He finds his sister but refuses to admit to his identity fearing she would hate him. When his father died, he disowns her deliberately hoping that she would be well off in the Christian orphanage than living with him in penury. That leaves scar on her mind and starts hating her brother. To win her love and save her from some ‘goons’, he comes to Kolkata and there he meets a naughty college student Swetha (Anushka). Soon, romance blossoms between them. On parallel, a don called Shivarama Krishna Gowd (Manoj K Jayan) in Hyderabad is on mission to find Vijay and he sends his men to Kolkata. The link between Gowd and Vijay is told in a flashback.
Analysis
Gopichand has earned an action hero image with films like Yagnam and Lakshyam. After seeing negative result for his experiment movie, Ontari, he comes back to what he does best – masala film with action and sentiment. The best part in Sowryam is comedy that has worked. Ali’s comedy part and Krishna Baghavan – Raghu Babu’s comedy episode are best part in this action sentiment drama. They are more enjoyable. But the story and execution treads similar path of ‘regular mass films’. First half is executed well but second half is lengthy.
On the downside, the film is pretty predictable and music is big letdown. Don't look for freshness. Also, the film has influences of several movies like Pokiri, Samarasinha Reddy, etc. On the whole the movie is okay and serves rightly to its target Mass audiences.
Performances
Gopichand cakewalks through this role of a tough guy fighting against a dreaded don. He dons the role of cop in the movie but he hardly is seen in the Khaki dresses. He exhibits his ‘strength’ once again in dialogue delivery. Anushka is only there to provide skin show and she does it without much hesitation. Manoj K Jayan’s performance in the final in the second half is praiseworthy. Poonam Kaur as sister to Gopichand is cute but has not much role to do. Ali as Gymson and Krishna Baghavan in the role of a doctor steal the show with their hilarious comedy.
Music by Manisharma is big minus. Camerawork is okay. Cinematographer turned director Shiva seems to have good comedy flair. His narration in the first half is appreciable.
Bottom-line
Sowryam runs in typical of Gopichand’s earlier films but this time it has better comedy and some hilarious moments. Despite familiar storyline and treatment, it is watchable. Second half and music should have better, but on the whole it is okay movie.
Anushka Bikini @ 1 Crore
It is raining crores in film industry for heroines. After Ileana, Anushka becomes the second heroine in Telugu to reach the one crore mark. In Bollywood, it is no big thing to get one crore. Asin is offered Rs 1.50 crore for a role in London Dreams. Katrina Kaif is offered Rs 1.50 crore for an item song.
Anushka is playing the role of Nayantara in Tamil super hit Billa remake opposite Prabhas. Anushka will appear in black bikini in the film.
Producers agreed to pay the amount without second thoughts. The producers are planning to make the movie a super hit in Telugu too.
