BISPASHA BASU
2006 was not really great, except for the ‘beedi jalaile’ number, 2007 too was quiet, but she is still right up there. It might be quite a while since she landed a real hit but her dates are still in demand. Having proved her acting skills with Corporate and Apaharan, she is no longer just the glamour specialist from the Jism days. Can ask for up to Rs.1 crore and bit more.
PREITY ZINTA
You might be a bit surprised to see her this early in the list but that is what filmdom is, doesn’t take much time to drop one down like a hot potato. A couple of high profile flops, talks of failing looks and the rush of the youth brigade has given her a bit of a jolt. A lot hinges on her offbeat but much expected releases of early 2008, The Last Lear, Heaven on Earth, etc.. Now takes home around Rs.1.5 crores
PRIYANKA CHOPRA
A low-lying 2007, nothing much except Salaam-e-ishq, which bombed has not helped her cause after a superb 2006 with Don and Krish. The delay of Drona has caught her on the wrong foot but she still remains hot property in all Bollywood circles. Not less than Rs.2 crores.
RANI MUKHERJEE
There was a time when she ruled as the undisputed queen but then good times don’t last forever. Big banners have failed her over the last couple of years, Kabhi Alvida Na Kahena , Ta Ra Rum Pum and Saawariya, even Mangal Pandey. Still one of the most popular leading ladies in India, she is just one hit away from reclaiming her top spot. Anywhere between Rs. 2 crores and 2.5 crores.
KATRINA KAIF
We thought that she was just learning the ropes, within a year she has learnt enough to beat the masters at their own game. No one had a better 2007, Namastey London, Partner and Welcome- all superhits. She is going to reap the benefits in 2008. With multistarrer Yuvaraj lined up she has already clinched deals worth 3 crores a film. Now that’s what you call ascendancy…..
KAREENA KAPOOR
She certainly does not have the number of hits to show for owning this top spot. But she has managed to hang in there, item songs, ads have all kept her popularity rock steady. All she needed was one big push and along came Jab We Met to give her just that. Now there is daylight between herself and others. 3.5 crores upwards. Tashan opposite Saif is the next big thing for her.

No prizes for guessing! Anyone who had been till lately doubting her acting potential must have been silenced by Jodha Akbar. Hollywood has already opened its doors for her with Pink Panther, things can only get bigger.
