Recently, this hot dusky beauty posed for a photo shoot in Mumbai and this photo shoot is said to be the talk of the bollywood world. According to sources, Tanisha is said to have posed in some transparent costume which revealed her upper assets to full view. It is reported that Kajol purchased the photos with the whole memory card from the photographer in order to save her family from further embarrassment. Congress party leaders recently criticized Pawan for not marrying Renu but giving lectures on ‘Stree Sankshemam’. Hence Pawan decided to give legal stamp to his relationship with Renu.

What’s it about
Visually impaired youngsters Siva (Shivaji), a deaf (Srinivas Reddy) and normal guy Pandu (Ali) are good friends and they live together. They meet a beautiful orphan Anupama (Anchal) and give shelter to her. In the mean time, Siva falls in love with her. But there is a twist in the tale. She actually is running away from a goon called Bahadur (Mukul Dev) who pressurizes her to love him and she has a lover too.

Analysis
S.V.Krishna Reddy who lost his magic long back comes with Mast this time to regain his past glory. But the movie clearly proves that SVK is still languished in early 90’s and his style of narration is clichéd and boring. The film’s story is copied from Bollywood film - Tom Dick and Harry (2006) which itself was remake of Tamil movie 123. Only basic point is taken for it and changed the story (if there really exists?) with old-styled jokes, half-baked scenes.

Not a single scene in the movie is praise worthy. Most of the movie seems like a street play. Nor are the performances are good. Technically too it is substandard.
Sivaji does overboard in the role of blind person and he looks like a buffoon most of the time. Ali and Srinivas Reddy try hard to create laughs but their weak characterization has no scope for it. Newcomer Anchal shows off her assets but she doesn’t have grace. Mukul Dev (of Krishna fame) does a guy of sadistic villain and he is okay.
Director SV Krishna Reddy might have directed some memorable movies in the past but his flicks in the recent times are scaring the audiences. Of all his recent bad movies he delivered, this one takes the cake.

Bottom-line!
Mast is an entirely avoidable film. A big bore. No two ways about it. One wonders how does corporate company Zee Motion pictures okayed this dumb script.

Rating: 2/5

Mandira Bedi slaps her husband…!

Well yes, Mandira Bedi did slap Gautam Kapur as he cheats on her!!!

Mandira and Gautam play a married couple in Nisha Chainani’s forthcoming film 42 KMS.

We hear that the scene was very volatile and Mandira gave Gautam a stinging slap across his face when she comes to know Gautam Kapur was cheating on her after she tailed a private detective behind his back! Gautam essays a character of an advertising magnet in the movie and justifies the affair by the excuse of marital boredom.

’'I did expect a slap but not with that intensity… it was definitely a slap to remember!’’ laughs the actor.

Well…Ouchhh is all we can say!![glamsham]

Puri eyes Anushka

Anushka is now the talk of the town. The film Arundathi is the flavour of the season and the success of the film has put Anushka on the top of every producer and director’s mind. The stupendous success of Arundathi has spurred producer Shyamprasad Reddy to dub the film into several Indian languages.

Director Puri Jagannath watched Arndathi the other day. He was very much impressed with the way the film was made. Puri was also highly impressed with the performance of Anushka.

Puri has now decided to approach Anushka and narrate a story to her. Puri has prepared a woman-centric story and he is confident that Anushka will fit the bill perfectly.

Puri is now busy with work for his new film with Prabhas in the lead. The film with Anushka will be taken up after he is through with is current assignment.

Anushka Red hot

Anushka is red hot now. She might charge now more than Ileana for her new films. She will also be the new icon for heroine-oriented roles. Remember what success of Mantra did to Charmee’s career. Like wise, Anushka will be the brand for such roles.

USA release this weekend
With craze surrounding and demand, producer Shyam Prasad Reddy has increased number of prints and is releasing with another 75 prints in Andhra Pradesh. In USA, the movie is hitting this Friday. It remains to be seen will it create same hysteria abroad?

Semi-porn shock in city multiplexes

Families and couples, who walked into PVR to watch Flashbacks of a Fool, were in for a shock. Less than 20 minutes into the film, one could see red-faced parents accompanied by embarrassed kids, and flustered couples, all making a rush for the exit. nudity, seduction and explicit content unfit for family viewing were part the Hollywood film starring Daniel Craig. As the older folk scampered out, teenagers who occupied most of the seats, hooted and howled.

Though online eviews of the film have already termed it ‘semi porn’, there was warning was flashed on the screen informing viewers of the objectionable scenes. "My wife and I went to watch the film thinking it was an action flick. Every scene after the first few shots was appalling. The theatre was filled with youngsters, who were hooting like hooligans. We wanted to walk out, but had to wait for the apt moment," says a city based doctor, who didn’t wish to be named.

What’s even more shocking is the fact that the film comes with ‘U/A’ certificate, which means children above 12 years are allowed to watch it and only those below 12 need parental guidance. "The censor board is ineffective. They surely know a 13-year-old can’t be allowed to watch such content. This is the case with Telugu films too. They have sleazy scenes and abusive content but are screened in theatres without any warning," says M. Sulochna, a mother of two, who is also head of commerce department, Osmania University.

"It is not possible for us to monitor what their kids are watching all the time. There should be some social responsibility at every level. Theatres should not let children walk in to watch just about any film," says Kausar Farooq, head teacher, Glendale Edufun who is the mother of a teenager. However, theatres feel public support is essential for taking any such

Allu Aravind create history in Bollywood

Initially Allu Arvind thought of re-making Ghazini in Telugu but later altered his plans to release the dubbed Telugu version and it paid off. Obviously, the next big destination for the ace producer was to re-make the film in Hindi and after browsing a few choices he finally roped in Aamir Khan. And as they say, the rest is history as the talented actor took the film under his wings to turn it into a blockbuster.

Novel theme, great makeovers and over-the-top promotion worked wonders to gross around Rs 200 crore in the initial collections itself and the film is still going strong. "Undoubtedly, the producer could easily make a profit of around Rs 50 to 60 crore in the end. Besides varied rights, he would have distributed the film on `sharing basis' in major centres across the country by tying up with a Mumbai-based distribution company," says a trade analyst, who marks it as a highest profit ever made by a Telugu producer on a Hindi film.

At one point of time, stars like Jeetendra thrived on Telugu remakes and was also branded a 'Southie' star. "Even other top Bollywood stars kept track of Telugu hits and vied with each other to act in remakes," says a leading producer. Even thespian Ramanaidu who made Hindi hits like Prem Nagar, Dildaar and Hum Aapke Dil Mein Rehte Hain feels the same. "Even today Bollywood stars would love to do a film with us, but we need a sensational Telugu hit on hand and rest will fall in place," he asserts.

Excuse me Mr Mallanna, there’s a problem.

Nothing makes for better publicity than a controversy. And so Kanthaswamy has one of its own now. The Tamil film’s song Excuse me Mr Kanthaswamy has run into some trouble. Lyricist Elango has filed a petition in Madras High Court claiming that the song credited to another lyricist has actually been penned by him. A sum of Rs 1 lakh is what he’s claiming as compensation. If agreed to, it would mark a first in Kollywood where a lyricist  has earned more for song than by writing it.

The song is already gaining on the music charts. Devi Sri Prasad’s tunes for the film are already creating a lot of hype for it. The complete soundtrack is to be launched in the first week of February. Hailed as the most awaited film of 2009, Kanthaswamy is supposedly an exciting mix of reality and fantasy, written and director by Susi Ganeshan, once a deputy to Mani Ratnam. The film will be screened in Tamil and Telugu as Mallanna, and Spanish and Italian as well when it opens on April 14. For its premiere, the film’s team plans to travel to Italy, Canada, the USA, Mexico, Australia, Malaysia and Singapore.

Jiah Khan seeks Bikini permission

After working with Aamir Khan in 'Ghajini', Jiah Khan, we hear, is taking her work too seriously. This sexy siren had to do much to camouflage her 'sexy' image after that 'Nishabd' stint. But with all actresses showing skin these days, it won't take much for Jiah to slip into a two-piece, na ?

"You know surprisingly I come from a strict Muslim family. So I have to ask my mom for permission ten times before I say 'Yes'." Now, that's a new one. These mommy-girls are something else, we tell you. Are the filmmakers already on the lookout of a certain Jiah ki ma ?

Manoj Bajpai happy with Komaram Puli

Bollwyood actor Manoj Bajpai is acting in Telugu again after Happy and Premakatha.
Now he does the crucial role in Pawan Kalyan’s current movie – Komaram Puli. He says he is happy with the movie’s content but he faced big problem on the sets pronouncing Telugu words correctly. It is really an uphill task for me, he confesses. “But luckily, the producer and director S.J.Surya have provided Tele-prompters on the location that made my life easier,” he said.
But he refused to divulge more details about the movie and his role. “S.J.Surya is a good friend to me. On his insistence, I did this movie and it is a nice entertainer with all the commercial elements. I have a great role,” he said.
Pawan Kalyan plays the title role - Komaram Puli and it has music by A.R.Rehman.

Shamili, to debut in Telugu?

Remember the child artiste Shamili, (sister of Shalini and sister-in-law of Ajit) who played the title role in Mani Ratnam’s Anjali? The actress later did small roles in films, like playing Ash and Tabu’s sister in Kandukondein Kandukondein and a few Malayalam films, but is all set to make her debut as a heroine soon. It will be a Telugu movie and the details are yet to be finalized though it is said that she will be paired with Siddharth in the film. But, like many other actress, who think getting launched in Telugu gives them a bigger fee, she has also decided to test waters in Tollywood before doing Tamil cinema

Kamal still hooked to A Wednesday!

Despite UTV’s official statement that the remake rights of A Wednesday haven’t been sold, grapevine has it that Kamal Haasan has purchased the rights and is likely to remake it in Tamil. It is also said that he has roped in Mohanlal for the role of the Police Commissioner played by Anupam Kher while Kamal himself will play the common man’s role that Naseeruddin Shah essayed in the Hindi version. It is said that Santhanabharathy or KS Ravikumar might direct this flick if Kamal decides against directing it himself.

Shriya denies reducing her rates

Shriya is turning a new leaf in Kollywood after her disastrous sojourn in Bollywood and Hollywood. Now she is reinventing herself in Tamil and has signed up a record four films which will release in the course of the year. Her releases are- Kandasamy with Vikram, Jaggu Bhai along with Sarathkumar, Thoranai with Vishal, Kutty opposite Dhanush, and above all Singam with Surya. But the actress, who has seen a lull in her market after Sivaji says she has not reduced her salary. “I never charged more than what I thought I deserved. I haven’t cut it now to get more offers too,” is Shriya’s explanation.

Trisha opposite Gopichand

For the first time, Gopichand gets A-list heroine to romance with. Trisha has officially signed Gopichand’s current film to be directed by Siva (of Sowryam fame). According to sources, she is paid a bomb for this film. Alhough Gopichand acted with beauties like Anushka, she was not that hot when she first acted with him in Laksyam, hence Trisha pairing with him makes special. Interestingly, Gopichand played villain in Trisha’s maiden Telugu film - Varsham. Five years later, both of them are paired together. Pullarao and Bhagavan are producing it while Tamil actor Satyaraj plays role of father to Gopichand in this movie.
Earlier Kajal was chosen for this role but she opted out, as she could not adjust dates. So Trisha is roped in by paying huge remuneration.
Regular shooting commences from February 1st week. Currently, Trisha has no other movies in Tamil and Telugu.

NBK to campaign from 29

With barely 100 days to go for elections in Andhra Pradesh, heroes Balakrishna and Pawan Kalyan are readying up for campaign for their respective parties  Telugu Desam Party and Prajarajyam. That means, both these stars will not be participating actively in the shootings of their current films. Balakrishna informed the media on Sunday that he won’t be participating in the shooting next month as he would be busy with campaign work for party.

“I am beginning to work for the party and mobilize support for it from January 29th from Hindupuram in Ananthapur district. The town is special to our family - it was my father’s constituency too,” NBK told the journos after paying homage to NTR on his death anniversary.

Balakrishna is currently shooting for new director Mahadev’s film that is being produced by Krishna Prasad. Major part of the shooting has been wrapped up and it is scheduled for summer release. But he will be giving a break to the current schedule after 29th for a month.

On the other hand, Pawan Kalyan will also start his ‘padayatra’ from Kondagattu in Karimnagar district from next week.

Krishnam Raju on Billa

‘Rebel Star’ Krishnam Raju turns a year old on January 20. He celebrates his birthday with his family members at his residence on Hyderabad. He is currently busy producing Billa with his brother’s son Prabhas on his banner Gopikrishna Movies. He also acts with Prabhas in the movie for the first time. Krishnam Raju talks about the movie..

Billa is costliest movie
We have revived our Gopikrishna Movies banner and have started production with Billa, which is under progress now. By February end, we will finish it off entire shooting. Almost to the tune of 75 days, we shot on foreign land on a grand scale. Probably this is the only film in Tollywood that was shot on foreign locations for such long time. It is costliest and lavish production for us. Billa is remake of Tamil movie by the same name which itself is remake of Amitabh’s Don. Even in Telugu it was done by Late NTR two decades ago. But we changed it to suit today’s modern times.

Prabhas looks dashing
Prabhas is playing a role that can be called anti-hero. He looks dashing and very stylish. From look to costumes, everything is different in this movie. Director Meher Ramesh asked us to provide good technicians and best locations and we accommodated him. Fans have been waiting to see Prabhas and me together on screen for a long time. So we have decided to come up with this flick, which gives them thrilling experience. I am playing the role of a cop who is out to nab Prabhas - the international smuggler.

Rich locations
Most part of the shoot is taken place at Malaysia. For a few scenes we have used number of helicopters. Cameraman Soundar Rajan is taking huge time to get quality. Everything in the movie is on topnotch standards.

Not interested in direction
I am currently entered into TV production too. We have created separate wing for it. Already a serial is on air on SV channel. Some more are under progress. I look after story and screenplay for them but not interested in turning director.

Will field in elections
I will be fielding in the forthcoming elections too from Narsapuram constituency.

Chiranjeevi is becoming a good leader
I think Chiranjeevi is slowly becoming like a good leader. Compared to initial stages of the party launch, everything is settled now in their party and he is also behaving and talking like a matured leader. It is nice. I have good relationship with him as he hails from my native village – Mogalturu. He had acted in my film - Manavuri Pandavulu and then we did together Puli Bobbili. He calls me as pedda annayya

Arundhati - Movie Review

Art: Ashok Kumar

CBFC Rating: A

What's it about?

Arundhati (Anushka) is descendant of Gadwal ruling dynasty. Her marriage is settled with Rahul (Deepak). Few days before her marriage, she comes to the fort of Gadwal from Hyderabad. There she is drawn to nearby abandoned fort where an evil is lying. Cut to flashback. Three generations back, Jejemma aka Arundhati (Anushka) kill her womaniser bava Pasupathi (Sonu Sood) whose spirit vows to take revenge. Three generations later, the new Arundhati kills him again.

Analysis

Arundhati
can be branded as new kind of thriller as we have not seen such high-end graphical and special effects rich movie so far. This is perhaps the first movie in Telugu that has convergence of technique and content well. The graphics and special effects are on high standards. Special effects are mind-boggling. And screenplay is perfect. It never slackens. The best part of the screenplay is it doesn't deviate from the main storyline - not even in a single scene. And thankfully, there are no comedy tracks too. It sticks to its genre and storyline through out.

It doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have loopholes. Yes, it has some logical problems and the theme doesn’t hold water on scientific grounds, yet on cinematic liberties, it can be excused.
First half is really superb. But the second half lacks the tempo and the climax sequences defy the logic. We are informed that villain can be killed only if he gets to human form, but the evil force doesn’t go into any human body, yet Anushka kills him. How come?
Performances Anushka has given knockout performance in the role of Jejamma. She is backbone of the movie and she succeeds in delivering what she is asked to. All her efforts have really paid off. But she is not that effective in her latter role and also in a scene where she is required to dance, her gait and steps are amateurish. She should have taken care on that front. For the first time, she has done performance oriented role and also dual role and her tall figure is best suited for the role of bravery Jejamma.
Sonu Sood as evil force and womanizer king is exceptional. He brings venom on to the screen with his deadly looks as Satan and the dubbing given by P Ravi Shankar is another strength. Sayaji Shinde in the role of fakir has given wonderful performance. After Anushka and Sonu Sood, his character plays the major role in the movie and he has delivered it with finesse. Other cast is okay.
Technically, the film is on high standards. First and foremost, the credit should be given to the screenplay writer and then the creative director ( Rahul Nambiar). Screenplay is racy and there is a never a dull moment. Visual effects in the supervision of Rahul Nambiar are awesome. Ever dependable Senthil Kumar comes out with excellent visuals once again and provides camerawork in tune to the theme. Songs are weakest part of the movie but Koti makes it up with his good re-recording. If the songs are good, the film could have been even better. Ashok Kumar’s set work is first class. The fort set deserves special mention. Editing by Marthand K Venekatesh is also plus point. The film has less run time compared to regular Telugu films.  Producer Shyam Prasad Reddy should be commended for his vision, passion and guts to make a film like this.
Best Parts
Racy screenplay, visual effects, Anushka in the role of Jejamma and Sonu Sood are strengths.
Minuses
1. Story doesn’t have emotional basis. The revenge is purely personal unlike Ammoru where ‘sentiment’ played prime part.
2. Climax is weak. And the graphics and visuals in climax look very pale and are not in quality.
3. Too much of violence and visuals of skulls and corpses.
4. Boring songs and Anushka’s awkward dance moments.
Bottom-line

Arundhati provides new visual experience for Telugu audiences. A good watch for the viewers! It is racy and entertaining. Screenplay and visual graphics are superb. The best part is that it is focused on its story and doesn’t deviate from the main theme. It is really graphical extravaganza. Despite many logic-less scenes, it gives unique experience for viewers. Go for it.

M S Raju on Maska

ust few days before the release of his latest flick, Maska, producer M S Raju looks real confident on his film. He seems very happy with the final product and for the first time he screens all the songs on avid studio for Web Journalists at Ramanaidu Studios on Friday (Jan 9, 2009). Later he talks about the movie and much more in a lengthy chitchat.

A very special Pongal
This is very special Sankranthi in my career. My career is at stake on Maska. Such situation is not new to me. I underwent such crises earlier too when Devi was releasing, I was at zero. Before Satruvu, all things went topsy-turvy. But my passion towards the films and commitment to deliver quality movies made me bounce back. With Maska, I am sure that my banner would reclaim the lost glory.

Maska has commercial punch
The constant question that is being asked these days is why did I choose a ‘mass entertainer’ for Maska. But this is not the first time that I made films that have ‘mass appeal’. Even Varsham and Okkadu had that same commercial punch even though they were sensible and superb scripts. Like wise, Maska has the ingredients that appeals to the larger audiences.

Sankranthi Bonanza
Although Maska doesn’t fall in any particular genre, it is a pucca commercial movie. In one word, it is a Pongal Bonanza for the audiences who seek good entertainment at festival time. That doesn’t mean that it has unusual script but some of the scenes that we conceived are never seen on Telugu screen. It brings novelty. I am very satisfied with the final output. We took lot of care and time for postproduction too. I could have released it on 9th, I waited to be it perfect. When you see the movie on the screen the first impression that comes across would be that the filmmakers tried hard to entertain you. That was the precise intention.

You see Maska in everyday life..
Every needs to do ‘maska’ in life. In fact, even in the cordial gesture like na’maska’ram, you find maska in it.

Ram has in it to be superstar
Regarding casting, first and foremost I must talk about our hero Ram and his energy level. I believe he will be one of the superstars in the future in our Telugu filmdom. His commitment to give best work, his dance movements and his energy levels astounded me. He is best thing that happened to Tollywood in the recent times.
After watching Satruvu, Ramanaidu said that it was the best performance in Venky’s career. After that he did great movies, though. Mansantha Nuvve was the best film in Uday Kiran’s career. Okkadu was the biggest hit in Mahesh Babu’s career at that time. For Prabhas, Varsham is highest grocer in his career even today (with adjusted inflation). I am sure Maska will remain one of the biggest hit in his career in future too.

Beautiful damsels
Hansika is really looking beautiful in the movie. She is gorgeous and her chemistry with Ram is impressive. I was criticized for the selection of Sheela for another female lead. She was selected after much thinking because the character requires a girl who can perform as well as look glam. Both of them have done really well.

Cold Water Hot Water
If you ask why I selected B Gopal for this particular project, I can’t explain it in words. Why I chose 18 year old by Devi Sri Prasad as music director for Devi? What made me to give break to V N Aditya with Manasantha Nuvve? B.Gopal delivered biggest blockbusters in the past but he is down. But he’s experience and his command over direction has helped the movie a lot. He is cool guy. I am very temperamental. Our combination is like mix of Cold Water and Hot Water.

Sunil is strength
Sunil has acted in all of our productions after he entered into the film industry. He once again has done a very important role as hero’s friend in Maska. He might be doing ‘joker’ roles but he is intelligent in real life. His valuable suggestions helped me a lot.

No song okayed in three months
Music is the major strength to the movie. In the first three months, both music director Chakri and I sat for several times but no song was Okayed. At one time he was really dejected. One day, he requested me to finalize at least one song so that his confidence would rise. Not that he had given bad songs in those sittings but I wanted best and beat oriented music. Such intensive work was done for music too. Chakri has given wonderful re-recording too.

Reason for releasing it own..
Suresh Babu has been a good friend to me for the last 23 years. He supported me all through. When I showed Manasantha Nuvve to him, he said only one thin ,”hold it on, Raju. Release it on yourself, don’t sell it.” Uday Kiran gave big hit with Nuvvu Nuvvu and our banner value made buyers flocking to bag Manasantha Nuvve. Yet, on the advice of Suresh Babu, I released it on my own. It made history. When I shown Maska, he said the same. That is the reason why I am releasing it on own.

Expecting new records
We are hoping that the movie creates new records. Releasing in almost with 300 Prints. 90 prints catered for Nizam. Even in districts like Krishna, we are releasing it with about 18.

Vaana disappointed me
In the recent times, I was disappointed with Vaana and Pournami. Aata was moderate success. We made money on it. But Vaana completely washed out.

New projects..
Will tell after the release of Maska.

What’s it about?

Politicians Simhachalam (Mukesh Rishi) and Shayaji Shinde (Pradeep Rawat) both fight for a ministerial berth. Knowing that it is impossible to beat Simhachalam, Shayaji Shinde plans to kill his daughter who resides in Hyderabad. On other hand, an educated unemployee Krish aka Jagarlamudi Krishnakant (Ram) woos Simhachalam’s daughter Manju (Sheela) in the hope that if he gets married to her, his life would be settled. With the help of his friend (Sunil) he knows about her likes and dislikes and impresses her. In a funny incident, a girl’s bio-data lands in his hands.

Krish uses her photo and identity to impress Manju saying that he is in love with Meenu but she is more interested in settling in USA, so he left her. Few days later, Meenu really turns up. Now, Krish does the same tricks that he applied for Manju to woo Meenu. The rest of the movie is all about who really Meenu is and with whom Krish finally gets married to.

Analysis

Producer M.S.Raju and director B.Gopal have teamed up for the first time for Maska. This unusual combination of ‘Mass’ and ‘Class’ works out thanks to smart packaging. Though the story is not a great shake, Ram’s performance and spellbinding dance moments, well-choreographed action episodes, music, and comedy are packaged well. The playful romance between Ram and Hansika, Ram and Sheela also holds the viewer’s interest and is also appealing. In simple terms, the movie is a pucca masala entertainer with right mix of everything - comedy, fights, romance and good dance numbers.

The film utilizes Ram’s main strengths - high energetic dances and action sequences - to the core. M.S.Raju brand of soft romance and comedy is evident throughout the movie as well as the director B.Gopal’s style of mass elements with blasting of Scorpios are thrown in too.

On the down side, the film lacks punch towards the end. And the turns and twists towards the end is a bit too much to digest. Hero’s romantic play with two heroines is also not a novel point. And several scenes are copied or inspired from lots of old movies and Korean and Hollywood flicks.

Performances

Ram looks so confident in his role. It is his show all the way and he is at home in the role of a guy who gives maska to everyone for his benefit. His astonishing dance moments and action sequences are a treat to watch. After NTR and Allu Arjun, he is the best dancer in Tollywood now. He is really amazing in ‘Maska..Meri Jaan’ and “Maaro Maaro” songs.

Hansika, in her slim avatar, is ravishingly beautiful. Her looks are bewitching. Sheela does a very glam role in this film compared to her previous movies. She does succeed too. Sunil as Ram’s friend does a very lengthy role and provides enough entertainment. Pradeep Rawat and Mukesh Rishi are okay. Jhansi in her Nellore slang does neat job. Dharmavarapu’s episode is also funny.

Technically the film is slick thanks to Sekhar V Joseph’s catching visuals. Chakri’s songs are another asset. He has given music that is foot-tapping. Editing by Kotagiri is neat. The film has lavish production values and shot at various picturesque locations in Europe.

Splendid action stunts by Ram L akshman are major attraction. They deserve special mention. Senior director B.Gopal’s touch is clearly visible in action episodes. M.S.Raju’s screenplay provides enough of entertainment (Sunil’s character) and romance to cater to the youth.

Bottom-line!

Maska is pucca masala entertainer. It doesn’t pretend on that. It is good time-pass movie with right mix of action, foot-tapping numbers and comedy. Though it doesn’t boast of a solid script, Maska is worth a watch for its packaging.

Video:Comedy King Program - Genelia akka Trisha aunty !

Audience shocked with Krishna Vamsi’s dialogues

The film Sasirkha Parinayam directed by Krishna Vamsi hit the screens the other day. Tarun and Genelia are the lead actors. Ahuthi Prasad, Paruchuri Gopalakrishna, Raghu Babu, MS Narayana and others are among the star cast.

Krishna Vamsi is known for making family dramas that can be watched by the entire family. But some of the dialogues in the film border on vulgarity and many f the dialogues are out rightly vulgar and offensive.

Ahuthi Prasad mouths most of the vulgar dialogues while Paruchuri gets his share of dialogues. What was surprising however was that even the cute looking Genelia has not been spared. Geneilia uses many swear words and language that is unprintable. Krishna Vamsi has clearly gone overboard with his dialogues in the film.

Heroines of the year: Anushka, Trisha

It is a tie! Both Anushka and Trisha are the winners among the heroines in 2008. But Anushka is ahead with highest number of releases. This sexy, curvaceous and tall beauty has had highest releases in the year (5) and two of them turned out to be hits. Sowryam is a genuine hit while Chinatakayala Ravi is just an average grocer. Her other movies Okka Magadu, Swagatham and Baladoor were big duds. But her career is blooming. She is already demanding Rs One Crore per film and will be seen in a bikini next year.
Trisha, on other hand, had three releases – Bujjigaadu, Krishna and King. Ravi Teja starrer Krishna was the big hit and King is also turning out to be a blockbuster. So she had two hits this year. Trisha hopes that 2009 will be more fruitful.
Mamta Mohandass too had five releases in 2008, but she played second leads in most of them. Films that she did were Krishnaarjuna, Homam, Kathanayakudu, Chintakayala Ravi, and King .
Ileana had delivered biggest hit with Jalsa but she has more releases lined up for 2009.

Worst Movies of 2008

2008 has started on dull note but is finally ending with good results. Small films like Nachchavule brought cheers to the industry and there is hope that Tollywood still can provide us some gems occasionally. Yet, this year has been a very disappointing one. Except a few movies like Gamyam, Kotta Bangaru Lokam, Vinaykudu, Ashta Chemma and Nachchavule, none of the movies (including the blockbusters) are good content wise. Not a single trend-setting movie released this year. More than the blockbusters, Telugu audiences this year suffered with pain-in-the neck movies. Here is the list of movies that gave us headaches.
Note: List is in the chronological order of release.
1. Aapada Mokkula Vaadu
(One wonders Posani really does know what direction is. There is a scene in the movie where hero Naga Babu cuts off genital of a villain and puts it in a freezer. That is the height of perversion. Such absurd scenes are aplenty in the movie).
2. Okka Magadu
(This much-hyped film not only brought bad name to director YVS but also the film’s hero Balakrishna. After the release, NBK confessed that he started the movie without hearing the script, as he blindly believed the director. Not that there are no other disasters in NBK’s career but this one takes the cake.)
3. Krishnarjuna
(On any day, we can watch Bruce Almighty any number of times than this big bore.)
4. Kathanayakudu
(This is biggest flop in Rajni’s career after disaster Baba. This film showed that P.Vasu urgently needs to bid adieu to direction!).
5. Baladoor
(Why did producer Suresh Babu make us to go through this torture? What was the director thinking when he made this film that no Telugu channel is airing '70s movies, so he wanted to offer such movie?)
6. Salute
(New director Rajashekar must have not known that a film has only one climax, not several ones. Like Buy One Get free, the movie offers two movies on one ticket.)
7. Mallepuvvu
(Perhaps this is only film that takes the credit for running only two days in the theatres. Joke is that when Bhumika went to a theatre with her gang of friends to watch the movie, audiences started shouting at Bhumika for selecting such insipid flick.)
8. Three
(This is most eccentric, absurd movie that released in 2008. Verdict: Don’t dig your own graveyard.)

9. Keka
(2008 showed that the so-called magic of Teja is finally and completely ended.)

10. Neninthe
(After Bachi and Andhrawala, Neninthe is biggest dud in Puri’s career.)

Following are also deserve to be in the list..
1) Andamaina Manasulo (It proved that music director R.P.Patnaik should stay away from acting and direction too.) 2) Nee Sukhame Ne Korutunna (TV soap operas look better than this) 3) Adi Vishnu 4) Sangamam 5) Ankith Pallavi Friends 6) Kousalya Supraja Rama 7) Deepavali 8) Dongala Bandi 9) Ek Police 10) Chedugudu
